SPEC's Arbosol Coatings and Linings
STEEL PLANT EQUIPMENT CORPORATION engineers and applies a plasticized Poly-Vinyl Chloride (PVC) material to metal fabrications using a unique plastisol formulation which produces a liquid material, ARBOSOL, that can be applied by spraying or dipping in a bath, depending on the size of the assembly. The ARBOSOL coating is applied for the express purpose of preventing corrosion or other chemical attack to expensive parent metal fabrications.
The application of ARBOSOL offers a coating system which is extremely corrosion resistant (visit our Web Site for details), seamless and holiday free with a complete chemical bond between the ARBOSOL and the parent metal. The applied thickness' can be varied according to customer requirements from 20 mils to one-quarter (1/4") inches.
The coating process consists of neutralization of the parent metal, followed by blasting to a carefully controlled profile and the application of the bonding material. The ARBOSOL is applied by either spraying or dipping in a bath, depending on the assembly's size. The bonding and ARBOSOL application processes are followed by a uniform, carefully controlled, oven-heat curing operation according to a specific, time-tested, accurate temperature program.
The unique process described above offers corrosion resistant coatings or linings that are guaranteed void free and enable extremely complex fabrications to be lined or coated for maximum corrosion resistance without a seam in the coating!
A well known fact with competing coatings, namely various rubber compounds, is the susceptibility of rubber linings/coatings to chemical attack at the seams. All other linings must be applied in sheet form requiring the application of sheets that are bonded together. This coating offers a completely homogeneous lining that cannot be chemically attacked because there are no seams!
Especially desirable for "hard-use" applications is the application of a 90 Shore 'A' durometer hard coating over the ARBOSOL, with the same corrosion resistant characteristics, to minimize installation "accidents".
