Anti-Static Roll Covering Compound
Material Advantages
SPEC's Anti-Static Roll Covering Compound has the same outstanding properties as our Jadestone Roll Covering Compound (GLE-RM115), which is used throughout the Paper Machine - wet end or dry. The unique difference is that our Anti-Static Roll Cover performs as an electrical conductor. All other composite properties remain the same. Both covering compounds are of a special woven glass fabric impregnated with epoxy resins. Our special curing method, incorporating temperatures up to 350° F (177° C), produces a hard, dense cover. It weighs half as much as aluminum, is at least three times as durable as any hard rubber cover and will polish to a 25 micro inch finish. The high quality, precision machinability of this covering compound, makes this an ideal cover for Dryer Felt Roll position where felt life is a concern and can be increased.
Production Advantages
The Anti-Static covering compound is a unique composition, combining extremely high tensile and compressive strengths with a superior bonding capability. These covers are applied directly to your reel spools and roll cores without the need for a bonding agent and the problems associated them. The covering cannot separate from the core, crack, break, fray or expose jagged edges on the surface of the roll. Because of the hard, homogeneous nature of the cover it will help increase the stiffness of the roll thereby reducing deflection. Anti-Static covers can be simply patched on-site and will not lose the conductivity of the cover. Unlike rubber covers, Anti-Static Covers can also be patched after kinetic (whip) balancing operations at any point across the roll face.
Safety Problem Solver
SPEC's Anti-Static Covering Compound will eliminate all safety problems related to the discharge of static electricity due to high speeds in dry environments; a growing problem with today's ever-increasing speeds and tensions. This special formulation allows static electricity to pass through the cover to the metal core. From there the charge will be directed to the roll body and down through the machine frame to ground. No need for discharge wires or other troublesome methods of removing static!
This cover also eliminates the problem of loose pieces of rubber, caused by slabbing knife damage, being thrown from the rotating roll by centrifugal force. It will also provide additional operator comfort by reducing noise levels at take-up and winding positions.
GUARANTEED
Since this covers introduction in 1990, there has never been a reject due to quality, workmanship or cover conductivity, a record unmatched in conductive covering compounds. As with all of SPEC's Roll Covering Compounds, the Anti-Static Roll Covering Compound is offered with a 100 % guarantee of satisfaction!
